“You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view... Until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it.” - Atticus Finch
Concise One-PagerFor my Customer Empathy & Brand Design class taught by Brad Brinegar of McKinney, I wrote a series of one-pagers focused on comparing legacy brands and disruptor companies.
For these papers, it was important for me to not only paint a cohesive picture both brands, but also do so in an entertaining and succinct style. |

Interviewee ProfileWhile working at Duke's DeWitt Wallace Center for Democracy and Journalism, I interviewed and wrote profiles on Duke journalism alumni. This experience pushed me outside of my comfort zone in many ways. I interviewed journalism professionals who usually did the interviewing! I learned that over-preparation may lead to great conversations that extend beyond scripted questions - that in order to digest a story, I need to know the components that inform the story.
These profiles were printed for our Student-Alumni engagement week. |

Memo FormatAs a Public Policy major, I've written my fair share of memos. This writing format taught me how to write clearly, effectively, and purposefully. To write clearly is to think and research clearly.
The memo attached is from my research on the U.S.'s H-1B Visa policies. |

Social MediaSocial media posts need to be eye-catching, concise, and pathos-driven. I think that many aspects of memo-writing translate beautifully to crafting great social media content.

Academic EssayPlease find my essay on filial piety from one of my favorite classes, Chinese Philosophy taught by Prof. David Wong.
By writing philosophy essays, I learned how to break down complex topics and explain them using metaphors and real-life examples. |

Performing Arts ReviewThis piece was written for my class on Performing Arts Management taught by Prof. Eric Oberstein.

Long-form JournalismFrom the Fall 2019 to Spring 2020, I was selected out of over 50 applicants for a paid research fellowship for Duke's Kenan Institute for Ethics. I wrote about the relationship between global ethnic enclaves and human rights, and discovered how ethic enclaves could positively impact low-income minorities.
This experience allowed me to explore a 360-degree view of certain populations' ethnography and how they specifically were impacted by their social, political, and economic surroundings. When conducting my research, I used a variety of resources such as official policy reports, economic profiles, satellite imagery, and first-hand interviewing to inform my papers.
